+ Intended Audience
This workshop is intended for technical implementers of Identity Management infrastructure and services (e.g. directory admin staff, system administrators)
who can influence the direction of Identity Management. Starting with our Virtual University’s Identity Management requirements, the workshop exercises will
focus primarily on deploying Identity Management services, authentication middleware and linking applications. This is a hands-on workshop where
participants will have a chance to experiment implementing technical and design solutions in a simulated university environment, and also be able to exchange
ideas and discuss practical issues.
+ Outcomes or Why Should I Attend?
If you are implementing same sign-on, moving towards single sign-on services or seeking to plan for future involvement in a national Shibboleth based
federation, then this workshop will provide a forum for discussing best practices and implementing the necessary components. The knowledge gained will
assist in applying Identity Management service provisioning in your University environment and serve as a launching point for providing Shibboleth compatible
identities and services.
+ Prerequisites
Since the workshop is intended to have practical implementation outcomes, familiarity working with application configuration and the command line is
expected. Ideally, participants will also be familiar with some of the discussion related to providing Identity Management systems in a University context.
A set of worksheets and design questions will be distributed prior to the workshop and will assist in guiding the practical outcomes of the workshop.
